Thailand and Japan have had relations for more than six hundred years and have traditionally sustained an amicable relationship. In September 2007, the 120th Anniversary of the establishment of Japanese-Thai diplomatic relations was celebrated. In recent years, as many Japanese companies expanded to Thailand, relations between both countries have become even closer than before. In 2010, Japan ranked first by total value of imports and exports in Thailand. In these circumstances, in order to respond to the various requests of our clients from Thailand and Japan, our firm established Thailand Support Station. Thailand Support Station aims to become a link between Japan and Thailand and provide support for our Japanese clients who desire protection of their intellectual property in Thailand, as well as for our Thai clients who desire protection of their intellectual property in Japan. I am starting work at HARAKENZO after obtaining an LL. M. degree from Kobe University Graduate School of Law. As the first attorney in the firm specializing in Thailand, I will endeavor to satisfy our clients by providing considerate and courteous service. In addition, at graduate school, I conducted research not only on Thai legislation, but also on Southeast Asian legislation in general. I aim to fulfill our clients’ needs by putting this research experience into practice.
