DIRECTOR GENERAL Kenzo HARA Kenzo HARA, born in 1948, is the founder and general manager of HARAKENZO WORLD PATENT & TRADEMARK. He graduated in 1967 from the Mechanical Engineering Dept. of Industrial Arts School in Ishikawa Prefecture, and in 1972 from Kansai University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in Law. After obtaining basic experience in a patent firm in Osaka, he qualified through examinations and was registered as a Japanese Patent & Trademark Attorney in 1975. He then established HARAKENZO WORLD PATENT & TRADEMARK in 1976. Certified in 2005 as Litigation Certified Intellectual Property Attorney.
He has extensive knowledge and experience in a wide range of technical subjects as well as in various legal practices, including legal counsel and expert opinions and supervision of trial proceedings and infringement litigation before the Japanese Patent Office and the courts and strategies for filing of applications in Japan and in foreign countries. With more than 30 years' experience in the patent and trademark fields, he has handled all types of cases involving Opposition and Appeal procedures, Litigation, Arbitration and License Negotiations, as well as all kinds of intellectual property rights proceedings.

He is presently a member of JPAA (Japan Patent Attorneys Association, i.e., bar association), AIPPI (Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriete Intellectuelle), APAA (Asian Patent Attorneys Association), Western Japan Patent Attorney Club, JP-TA (Japan Trademark Association), LES JAPAN (Licensing Executives Society JAPAN) and INTA(International Trademark Association).

Tokyo Head Office Director Takaya KOIKE Takaya KOIKE, born in 1944, is the Tokyo Head Office Director of HARAKENZO WORLD PATENT & TRADEMARK. Upon graduating from a university in 1967, he worked for the Japan Patent Office as an examiner and a trial examiner covering electric, electronic, communication, and semiconductor fields mainly.
Thereafter, he belonged to an intellectual property department of an electrical appliance maker where he experienced the entire gamut of business enterprise IP practices digging up inventions, acquiring patent, design, and trademark rights, making licensing contracts as well as handling legal cases. In January 2008, he took up his position as the Tokyo Head Office Director of HARAKENZO WORLD PATENT & TRADEMARK.

Toshio UCHIDA After finishing graduate school in 1982, Mr. Uchida joined the Japan Patent Office. He has held the positions of examiner, trial examiner, examination supervisor and trial examiner-in-chief, and has worked at examination and trial mainly in the fields of medical science (medicine, medicinal compounds, and cosmetics) and biotechnology (biotechnology, foodstuffs). Also, he has served as Judicial Research Official at the Osaka high Court and the Osaka District Court, where, in addition to the above technical fields, he engaged in infringement lawsuits and lawsuits demanding compensation for invention in service regarding in the fields of civil engineering, architecture, and devices. In September, 2011, Mr. Uchida left the Japan Patent Office, and in October, 2011, he joined our firm. He works at Osaka Head Office.
