Chau DO

Chau DO, born 1982, is working towards her MASc in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada.

Her research was focused on developing three-dimensional microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). This involved designing MEMS components, integrating equipment with micro-components and bringing the micro-components out of plane using the equipment. Chau is currently completing her thesis.

Having switched from a computer background in my undergraduate studies to MEMS in my graduate studies, I have dealt with a wide range of engineering topics. I would like to use this knowledge in the field of intellectual property in order to benefit our clients.

Lai Ming-hui, born in 1968, acquired a mechanical master degree in Taiwan Science Technology University. He had worked as an SMT (Surface Mounting Technology) engineer and a patent engineer. His specialties cover mechanics, semiconductor packaging technology.

Chun-Yu Qian handles the mechanical engineering field mainly. She speaks Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

After graduating the university, I worked as an engineer for designing air conditioners, and then experienced patent practices in an IP department of a business enterprise and a patent law firm. Through these patent practices, I prepared Chinese specifications, responses to office actions, Japanese-Korean translations, conducted prior art search/analysis, and prepared reports. As a patent engineer of a Japanese patent law firm, I make use of my experiences and skills and acquire IP knowledge through everyday practices in order to provide satisfactory services to our clients.
