As of June 11, 2025, the European Patent Office’s (EPO) “Deep Tech Finder” (DTF) is available as a mobile app for iOS and Android.
The web-based DTF tool has already been used to perform nearly 50,000 searches to find startups, investors or research universities in Europe.
The new DTF mobile app offers all the functionality offered in the web-based DTF tool.
Startups with patents are up to 10 times more likely to receive investment. Patents demonstrate a defensible, groundbreaking technology and help investors identify emerging leaders in key fields.
DTF provides this visibility, combining technical and legal information in patents with company financials to help users:
- Search over 10,000 startups with European patent applications or granted patents
- Discover over 1,000 universities involved in patents
- Focus on dozens of technology and industry sectors
- Filter startups by name, location, growth stage, funding round and growth stage
- Easy access to all corresponding patent documents via Espacenet and legal status information via the European Patent Register
