The European Patent Office (EPO) began accepting submissions of European patent applications and related documents in DOCX format on April 1st.
When filing a patent application, you can either include the drawings directly in the DOCX file, or submit them separately in PDF format if desired.
While it is possible to submit international applications under the PCT in DOCX format when creating them and uploading them to Online Filing 2.0, unlike European patent applications, they will be converted to XML format by the application tool before submission, as before.
