The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has launched an AI-powered tool called "Early TM Screening" was announced.
The tool consolidates into one platform the pre-assessment checks previously available within the EUIPO's electronic application form.
Enter your trademark details and the class of goods and services into this tool and it will analyze potential issues such as:
- Potential conflicts with prior rights, such as existing EU trademarks, domain names, and company names
- Potential issues regarding the registrability of a trademark (based on absolute grounds for refusal)
* "Absolute grounds for refusal" include lack of distinctiveness (including descriptive nature), deceptiveness, concerns about morality or public order, and conflict with other intellectual property rights such as plant varieties, geographical indications (GIs), traditional speciality guarantees (TSGs) and traditional terms for wine (TTWs).
