On February 28th, the Japan Patent Office published a table of the Transformation Technology Classification (GXTI).
GXTI consists of three hierarchical levels: major, middle, and minor, and is represented by a six-letter division code (e.g. gx A 01 a).
There are five major categories:
- Energy supply (gxA)
- Energy demand (gxB)
- Energy Storage (gxC)
- CO2 reduction in non-energy sectors (gxD)
- Greenhouse gas capture, storage, utilization and removal (gxE)
The medium categories list the individual technologies that are important within each major category, and the small categories indicate specifically what technologies are included in each medium category.
For each subdivision, a patent search formula based on the International Patent Classification (IPC) is published.
In addition to the above categories, the following four cross-sectional categories have also been established.
- Control and Adjustment (gxY01)
- Measurement (gxY02)
- Business related (gxY03)
- ICT related (gxY04)
