JATAFF has opened applications for financial support for new overseas trademark applications, etc. (Application deadline: May 22, 2026)

As a new emergency measure to prevent the outflow of plant varieties and other related materials overseas, aimed at protecting Japanese agricultural products and varieties and supporting the strengthening of export capabilities, the Japan Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries and Food Industry Technology Promotion Association (JATAFF) has started accepting applications for its "Support for Overseas Trademark Registration Applications" and "Support for Overseas Infringement Countermeasures" programs for fiscal year 2026.
This program subsidizes the costs associated with applications for intellectual property rights and disputes, as a measure against the risk of varieties and agricultural products developed and produced in Japan being copied or used without permission overseas.
This support measure will be a major boost for breeders and agricultural corporations working to expand exports, both in terms of maintaining brand value and ensuring market competitiveness.

*To receive support, you must submit an application to JATAFF, the application destination, during the application period (April 27, 2026 to May 22, 2026).
