Trends in design registration applications for new subjects of protection under the revised Design Act

The amendments to the Design Act in 2019 have made it possible to protect designs of images, buildings, and interiors, and it is now possible to file applications for related designs even after the design gazette for the main design has been published.

The Japan Patent Office has published the application status for these design registration applications.
