Intellectual property information

Semiconductor IPC has completely transitioned from H01L to H10.

With the revision of the IPC (International Patent Classification), a new class H10 has been established for the semiconductor field, and semiconductor technologies that were previously classified under H01L have been reorganized into the various subclasses of H10.

Each subclass of H10 is coming into effect sequentially in 2023, 2025, and 2026. In 2026, H01L will be abolished, and over the next few years, newly introduced FIs will be added to Japanese patent publications and other documents.

Furthermore, the technologies being reclassified into Class H10 include not only those previously classified as H01L, but also technologies related to organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) that were previously classified as H05B33 (from H10K50/00 onwards).
