On April 15, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced that it would accelerate the issuance date of patents.
The period from the notification of issuance of a patent certificate to the actual issuance date was previously about three weeks on average, but is expected to be shortened to about two weeks after May 13th.
This reduction in time has been achieved by issuing electronic patent certificates (eGrant) through the online platform, Patent Center.
In addition, the shortened period is expected to eliminate the need for patent applicants to submit Quick Path Information Disclosure Statements.
