On October 24, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced the launch of the "Streamlined Claim Set Pilot Program."
The program accelerates the first Office Action for pending utility patent applications with one or fewer independent claims and ten or fewer total claims.
Applicants can bring their applications into conformity with the program's requirements by filing a preliminary amendment.
Each technology center will accept approximately 200 applications for the program.
Applicants wishing to apply for this program must ensure that their application meets the requirements and apply using Form PTO/SB/472.
