Intellectual Property System in Ukraine

 

In Ukraine, the Patent Law, Design Law, and Trademark Law were revised in June 2021. In addition, the Ukrainian National Agency for Intellectual Property and Innovation (UANIPIO) was launched in October 6.

Ukraine is a party to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the Hague Convention and the Madrid Protocol.

Direct applications to Ukraine must be filed in Ukrainian.

In terms of variety registration, Ukraine is one of the world's leading intellectual property powers.

The majority of applications come from abroad, with the United States, France and Germany accounting for approximately 80% of applications from abroad.

Ukraine is a major producer and exporter of grains and other crops, and also occupies an extremely important position as a test cultivation site for varieties planned to be cultivated in Europe.
