Today, our everyday life is surrounded by unique and sophisticated design products. Products with excellent designs earn excellent reputations such as an award of a good-design prize. “Design” as well as functions and a price are important factors to determine when people purchase goods. Therefore, the “Design” greatly affects sales of the products. It is thus expected that attention to “Design” keeps increasing.

In Japan, designs are protected under the Design Law. A party (designer) creating a design may seek for protection of the design by filing a design patent application. Once the design is registered, the party is allowed to use the design without restrictions. If someone else is using the design without your authorization, the owner of the design patent may demand a halt of the use or take legal action to claim for damages.

The members of our Design Support Station are patent attorneys and staff specialized in Design patent.
